Beer Style: Irish Red Ale (9D)
Recipe Type: all-grain
Yield: 5 US gallons

Irish Red Ale
Beer Color

Description:

Good Irish Red Ale. I'd take the Meladnoiden malt down to a pund and mash at a lower temperature. A little too sweet. To be true to style, I should have bumped up the roasted malt to 4 oz. and the last hop addition should have been at 20 min.

Ingredients:

  • 7 lbs 8.0 oz - Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 1 lbs 4.0 oz - Melanoidin (Weyermann) (30.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 8.0 oz - Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L (80.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 8.0 oz - White Wheat Malt (2.4 SRM) (Grain)
  • 4.0 oz - Biscuit Malt (23.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 2.1 oz - Roasted Barley (300.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 0.5 oz - Cascade [8.9%] - Boil 60 min (Hops)
  • 0.5 oz - Fuggles [4.3%] - Boil 60 min (Hops)
  • 0.5 oz - Cascade [8.9%] - Boil 10 min (Hops)
  • 0.5 oz - Fuggles [4.3%] - Boil 10 min (Hops)
  • 1 pkgs - Irish Ale Yeast (White Labs #WLP004) (Yeast)

Additional Instructions

Boil: 60 Minutes
