Dark American Lager

Description:

I am trying to formulate a recipe that might approximate a Swedish beer called Gammel Brygd made by the Falocon Brewery. The last time I had it, I remeber it being dark and sweet and very malty without much hoppiness.

Ingredients:

  • 6-7 pounds, German dark malt extract syrup
  • 1 pound, crystal malt
  • 1/2 pound, chocolate malt
  • 1-2 cups, brown sugar (just guessing)
  • 1 ounce, Hallertaur hops (boiling)
  • 1/2 ounce, Goldings hops (finishing)
  • lager yeast
