10/18/11 - Tasted the gravity reading sample and it is very hoppy citrusy with an upfront bitterness. Gravity was 1.025+ at 68 deg F. Activity was slowing down and it is begining to clear. Rocked carboy and allowed to warm a few degrees to allow it to finish completely. Color is not as dark as

  • 13 lbs - Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 1 lbs 4.0 oz - Aromatic Malt (26.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 1 lbs - Caramunich Malt (56.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 8.0 oz - Special B Malt (180.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 1.5 oz - Chinook [13.0%] - Boil 60 min (Hops)
  • 1.5 oz - Chinook [13.0%] - Boil 20 min (Hops)
  • 1.0 oz - Chinook [13.0%] - Boil 1 min (Hops)
  • 1 pkgs - California Ale (White Labs #WLP001) (Yeast)

I agree, this is a great beer and was my first attempt to clone Stone Arrogant Bastard. It is not a clone, but I would definitely brew it again. The Stone rep said that it only has 2 grains and Chinook for the hops and it doesn't have Special B in it. Two row and something dark and malty.
