American Pale Ale

Description:

Very crisp Citrus flavor. Light color, good anytime with just about anything.

Ingredients:

  • 6lb Sorghum extract
  • 2lb toasted Buckwheat groats
  • 1oz Summit pellet hops
  • .50oz Irish Moss
  • 1oz Cascade leaf hops
  • 1pkg Safal 05

Additional Instructions

Primary Ferment: 2 weeks
Secondary Ferment: 2 weeks

Final Gravity: 1.018

Procedure:

Bring 4 gal water to 155-160 degrees F and steep toasted Buckwheat for 30min. Remove steeping grains and bring to boil. Turn off heat to add extract then return to boil and follow hop and fining additions.
.5oz summit hops -60 min
.5oz Irish Moss - 15 min
.25oz summit hops -10 min
.25oz summit hops - flame out
Add H20 to reach 5 gal
Pitch yeast directly onto swirling wort in carboy
1 oz Cascade leaf hops Dry-hop to secondary
