Cream Ale

Description:

This is meant to be a cream ale with a hint of maple syrup.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of flaked corn
  • 6 lb of Light LME
  • 26 oz maple syrup
  • 6 oz maple syrup for priming
  • .5 oz Sterling hops 60 min boil
  • .5 oz sterling hops 30 min boil
  • 3 oz malto-dexterin
  • 1 tsp irish moss
  • 1 package of Safale American Ale yeast

Additional Instructions

Boil: 60 Minutes
Primary Ferment: 1 week

Beer Profile

Original Gravity: 1.050
Final Gravity: 1.016
Alcohol by Vol: 4.5%
Bitterness IBU: 25
Recipe Type: extract
Yield: 5.00 US Gallons

Procedure:

steep corn for 30 min at 155 degrees
add LME, Maple syrup, and malto-dexterin and bring to boil
once at boil, add.5 oz hops
at 30 min into boil add other .5 oz hops
last 15 min add irsh moss

cool and put in primary for week
transfer to secondary for a week
prime with 6 oz of maple syrup that is boiled in about 2-3 cups of water to sanitize
Bottle
wait two weeks and drink

Made this for the first time and just opened the first bottle today. I followed the recipe to a tee and it turned out great. Will definitely keep this on my favourites list. Thanks for sharing this.

This is a really nice Maple Ale, the hint of Msple is nice, but I might add more Maple for more enhanced flavor.
