Kölsch

Description:

Straw yellow, medium bodied, very drinkable any time

Ingredients:

  • -8lbs Bohemian Pilsner
  • -1lb Vienna
  • -1/2lb Caravienna
  • 1oz Tettnang @ 5-6% for 60mins
  • 1/2oz Cz Saaz @ 3% for 20mins
  • 1tspn Gypsum in mash & sparge water (we have water high in temp hardness)
  • WL Kolsch Yeast (makes this beer! & ferments like a lager)

Additional Instructions

Primary Ferment: 5-7 days (yeast is a fast worker) 65 F to 70 F
Secondary Ferment: 14 days

Final Gravity: 1.008

Procedure:

Mash Scedule:

-140 F for 15mins(3 gallons)
-155 F for 45mins(1 gallon)

-170 F water added to grain bed for 15min batch sparge(4 gallons)

-60min boil

-Chill and pitch WL Kolsch yeast
