Beer Style: English IPA  (14A)
Recipe Type: all-grain
Yield: 5.5 US gallons

English IPA
Beer Color

Description:

This is my English INSPA (India Not-So-Pale Ale) - a reddish brown lighter hopped IPA. I'm not a big fan of citrusy super-hopped American IPAs so I went with earthier (Fuggles/EKG), spicier (Chinook) hops and a more traditional UK feel (Maris Otter) - with a darker twist. It worked. I've never tasted another IPA like it - in a good way.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lbs 8.0 oz - Munich Malt - 20L (20.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 9 lbs - Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 1 lbs - Wheat Malt, Ger (2.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 4.0 oz - Pale Chocolate Malt (225.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 1 lbs 8.0 oz - Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 0.8 oz - Chinook [12.1%] - Boil 90 min (Hops)
  • 1.0 oz - Fuggles [4.2%] - Boil 60 min (Hops)
  • 1.00 - Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15 min) (Misc)
  • 1.00 - Immersion chiller (Boil 15 min) (Misc)
  • 1.0 oz - Goldings, East Kent [5.1%] - Boil 10 min (Hops)
  • 1 pkgs - Burton Union (Mangrove Jack's #M79) (Yeast)
  • 1.5 oz - Goldings, East Kent [5.1%] - Dry Hop 7 days (Hops)
