Old Ale

Description:

a punchy red ale very similar to "Leffe Radieuse" in color, flavor & strength

Ingredients:

  • Muntons Continental Lager 1.8kg hopped liquid malt extract
  • powdered dry unhopped malt extract 1kg
  • powdered dry lightly hopped malt extract 1kg
  • Crystal malted barley grain 300g
  • liquid rice malt extract 400g
  • sliced dried ginseng root 20g
  • cascade aroma hops 15g
  • williamette aroma hops 15g
  • low carb enzyme 1 sachet
  • SafAle us-05 yeast

Procedure:

boil all extracts & grain for 30 to 45 mins, add ginseng root half way through boil
steep hops in 500ml freshly boiled water for 10 mins then add to wort for last 5 mins of boil
pour into primary & top up to 21L with cool water
add low carb enzyme when temp is below 35 degrees C & stir
add yeast at or below 30 degrees C
