Description:

My mom is a blonde, so I tried to give my dad a blonde he could enjoy in front of her. This is a smooth, malty beer with low to moderate alcohol content and a sweet, clean finish. It also brews nicely with strawberries.

Ingredients:

  • 7# 2-Row
  • 3# Wheat
  • 1/2# Crystal 40
  • 1/2# Honey malt
  • 4# Fresh Strawberries pureed (If desired)
  • 1/2oz. Czech Saaz (60 min.)
  • 1/2oz. Czech Saaz (15 min.)
  • Nottingham Ale Yeast

Additional Instructions

Primary Ferment: 10-14 days
Secondary Ferment: None

Procedure:

Blend al grains in mash tun. Add 2.75gal water for target mash temp 158F. Mash for 1 hour. Sparge with approximately 4.5gal. Add 1/2oz. Hops at boil and remaining 1/2oz. with 15min. remaining. Flame out after 60min. boil and chill immediately. Ferment for 10-14 days.

If you would like to add strawberries, slowly add puree with 15min. remaining in boil. Be careful not to add the fruit too quickly so wort maintains hard boil.

This was my very first all grain brew. It was an absolute hit with the whole family!! As a matter of fact we are brewing it again today!
