Beer Style: Other Smoked Beer (22B)
Recipe Type: partial mash
Yield: 5 US gallons
Pale Ale with a subtle smoky finish
Steep smoked malt in 140-150 degree F water for 30 min.
Remove steeping-bags and allow to drain for 5 minutes. DO NOT SQUEEZE bags.
Bring to boil and add both cans of liquid malt extract.
Boil for 10 minutes.
Add 1 oz Fuggle hop pellets.
Boil 45 minutes.
Add 1 oz Styrian hop pellets and 1 tsp Irish Moss
Boil 15 minutes.
Remove from heat and strain into primary.
Add water to 5 gallons at 65-75 degrees F.
Pitch yeast and stir vigorously with wire whisk.
Cover and ferment.
