Christmas/Winter Specialty Spiced Beer

Description:

Nice aromatic Holiday Ale with Mullen spices

Ingredients:

  • Steeping Grains: Steep in 3 gal. of water for 30 min or until temp. reaches 170 degrees
  • 1lb Crystal Malt 40L
  • 2oz Black Roasted Barley (500L)
  • Malts:
  • 7lbs Light Malt Extract
  • Hops:
  • 1.5oz Cascade (4.5%) for bittering, 60 min.
  • 1oz Liberty (3-6%) for flavor, 5 min.
  • 2oz Northern Brewers (7-10%) for aroma, 5 min
  • Other:
  • 1 tablet Whirlfloc (clarifying)
  • 4 oz Corn Sugar (priming)
  • Dry Hop:
  • 5oz Mullen Spices whole cassia, cinnamon sticks, orange peel, lemon peel, star anise, cardamom, cloves, orange oil, natural vanilla flav. (dry hop in secondary fermenter)
  • Yeast:
  • Recommend California Ale Yeast
  • Estimated Ranges:
  • OG: 1.045-1.049
  • SRM: 15
  • IBU�s: 41-45
  • ABV: 4.5%
  • Fermentation Temp.: 68 degrees
