Russian Imperial Stout

Description:

Taste Notes: Low - medium alcohol notes. Light roasted, rich buttery chocolaty, maple syrupy flavor with very light bitterness. Not a dry stout. Super smooth! It will not disappoint.

Ingredients:

  • 14 lbs 8.0 oz Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM)
  • 1 lbs Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM)
  • 8.0 oz Black (Patent) Malt (500.0 SRM)
  • 8.0 oz Roasted Barley (300.0 SRM)
  • 2.00 oz Chinook [13.00 %] (60 min)
  • 8.0 oz Turbinado (10.0 SRM)
  • 1 Pkgs London Ale (White Labs #WLP013) w/750ml yeast starter or double pitch

Additional Instructions

Primary Ferment: 5 - 7 days
Secondary Ferment: 10 - 14 days

Procedure:

Mash In Add 20.63 qt of water at 170.5 F for 45 - 60 min at 158.0 F
Mash Out Add 8.25 qt of water at 196.6 F for 10 - 15 min at 168.0 F

I chose this recipe because they're no coffee flavors. I wasnt much of a stout guy but this beer by far exceeds my expectations. I'm adding this brew into my rotation.
