Description:

Mash at 66 C or 151 F. This is a very robust recipe producing a highly complex beer but also an easy drinking one. Schwarzbier is strictly a lager but this recipe can be brewed using the above yeast and ale fermentation profile without any compromise of quality. Try adding the specialty grains at the start of mashout to increase the complexity.e

  • 8 lbs - Pilsner (2 Row) Ger (2.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 5 lbs - Munich Malt (9.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 3 lbs - Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 1 lbs - Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 1 lbs - Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 4.8 oz - Chocolate Malt (450.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 2.3 oz - Hallertauer [4.8%] - Boil 60 min (Hops)
  • 1.7 oz - Hallertauer [4.8%] - Boil 20 min (Hops)
  • 0.82 - Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15 min) (Misc)
  • 1.1 oz - Hallertauer [4.8%] - Boil 1 min (Hops)
  • 1 pkgs - Safale American (DCL/Fermentis #US-05) (Yeast)
