Robust Porter

Description:

A friend gave me a couple of Mr. Beer ingredient kits so I thought I would try something different. This is rather dark in color with a chocolate/coffee aftertaste when I sampled it when transfering to secondary.

Ingredients:

  • 2.42 lbs Mr.Beer Oktoberfest hopped extract (LME)
  • 2.42 lbs Mr.Beer Vienna Lager hopped extract (LME)
  • 1.5 lbs amber DME
  • .5 lb chocolate malt crushed
  • 1.oz. Fuggle pellet hops
  • safele s-04 ale yeast

Additional Instructions

Primary Ferment: 7 days gravity was 1.018
Secondary Ferment: 7days

Procedure:

steeped chocolate malt for 20 min. @ 150-160
heated to boil, added LME and DME, returned to boil
added hops boiled 60 minutes
cooled to 75 degrees, pitched yeast
