Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer

Description:

pumpkin ale with a nice orange taste and a hint of cinnamon

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 # 2 row
  • 1 # vienna
  • 1/2 # crystal 40L
  • 1/2 # caramunich
  • 5 1/2 # LME
  • 1/2 oz cascade pellet
  • 1/2 oz northern brewer pellet
  • 5 1/2# cooked w/real maple syrup glaze pumpkin cubed
  • 1 heaping tsp cinnamon
  • 3/4oz dried orange peal
  • 1/2 tbsp irish moss
  • white labs american ale yeast

Additional Instructions

Primary Ferment: 1 week
Secondary Ferment: 3 weeks

Procedure:

mash pumpkin and grains 155, 1hr, 2.5 gal
sparge with 1 gal 170
add LME boil
northern brewer @ 30min
spices and irish moss @ 50min
cascade @ 55min
cool top to 5 gal
add yeast
