  • 227.00g (0.50#) 40L Crystal Malt
  • 113.50g (0.25#) Chocolate Malt
  • 56.75g (0.13#) Black Patent Malt
  • 2 Cans Black Tower Porter HME (Mr. Beer)
  • 28.4g (1oz) Kent Goldings Hops
  • Safale US-05 Dry Yeast

Additional Instructions

Primary Ferment: 1 week at 68-70 degrees
Secondary Ferment: 2-3 weeks at 68-70 degrees

Procedure:

Instructions:
Add Specialty Grains to Grain sack and tie to wooden spoon at a length that will suspend sack above Brew Pot bottom.
Bring 1 gallon of water to 160f
Place Grain Sack in pot suspended by wooden spoon.
Steep for thirty minutes, Do not let steeping temprature exceed 168f, Occasionaly swirl Grain Sack in pot.
Sparge Grain Sack (3cups boiled to 200f/2 ice cubes fully melted).
Bring Wort to boil.
Add 14.2g (0.50oz) Kent Goldings to a Hop Sack.
Add 7g (0.25oz) Kent Goldings to a Hop Sack.
Add 7g (0.25oz) Kent Goldings to a Hop Sack.
At full boil add 14.2g (0.50oz) Hops.
At 15 minutes 7g (0.25oz) Hops.
At 0 minutes 7g (0.25oz) Hops.
Take off heat.
Pull and discard Bittering and Flavor Hop Sacks.
Add 2 cans Black Tower Porter.
Cool Wort to fermentation temps.
Follow basic Mr Beer Recipe with the Wort.
But either save the Mr Beer provided Yeast or add to the boil for nutrients.
Instead, Pitch 1 package of Safale us-50 @ fermentation temperature (68f-70f).
Aerate until your shoulder becomes disjointed.
Ferment @ 68-70 for three weeks.
