Extra Special/Strong Bitter (English Pale Ale)

Description:

Nutty, malty ale with hint of hop bitterness. Very easy drinking session beer, deep amber in color. Aroma clearly from malt body, no hop aromas.

Ingredients:

  • 3.0 lbs Pale Liquid Extract
  • 6.0 lbs Pale Malt, Maris Otter
  • 1.0 lb British Crystal Malt
  • 0.5 lb Biscuit Malt
  • 1.5 oz Goldings, 60 min
  • 0.5 oz Goldings, 30 min
  • 1.0 oz Goldings, 10 min
  • White Labs English Ale (WLP-2)

Primary Ferment: 7 days
Secondary Ferment: None

Procedure:

Mash in 9.5 qts at 163 F and hold at 150 F for 75 minutes. Mash out by addition of 6 qts at 200 F for 10 minutes. Batch sparge at 168 F to collect five gallons. Add the extract, bring to boil and hop.
