American Brown Ale


This is a New Castle clone with a very smooth finish. My best Brown Ale to date.


  • 3.3 # Briess Golden Light Liquid Malt
  • 3.3 # Briess Sparkling Amber Liquid Malt
  • 1 # Turbinado Sugar
  • 1 # White Clover Honey
  • 8 oz. Dark Crystal Malt
  • 4 oz. Chocolate Malt
  • 4 oz. Wheat 80 L
  • 1 oz. Tettnang Hops @ 60 Minutes
  • 1 oz. Williamette Hops @ 5 Minutes
  • White Labs Yeast - Burtons Ale

Additional Instructions

Primary Ferment: Primary Fermentation for 7 days.
Secondary Ferment: Secondary Fermentation for 14 days.

Add Malt Extract and bring to boil
Add Tettnang Hops Immediately
Add Williamette Hops with 5 Minutes to go
Cool, top water to 5 gallons
