Beer Style: Extra Special/Strong Bitter (English Pale Ale) (8C)
Recipe Type: all-grain
Yield: 6.6 US gallons

Extra Special/Strong Bitter (English Pale Ale)
Beer Color

Description:

to my taste this is the way Old Speckled Hen should taste if it had a bit more body. Give it time to develop in the keg or bottle as it tastes very rough at first (no doubt due to the sugar syrup which tends to make rough alcohol). After a couple of months it smooths right down.

Ingredients:

  • 9 lbs 14.7 oz - Pale Malt (Weyermann) (3.3 SRM) (Grain)
  • 1 lbs 3.0 oz - Carapils k51D (2.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 8.8 oz - Invert Sugar (Ljus Sirap) (0.0 SRM) (Grain)
  • 1.1 oz - Magnum 2012 [12.7%] - Boil 60 min (Hops)
  • 0.7 oz - East Kent Goldings 2011 [6.4%] - Boil 15 min (Hops)
  • 0.33 tsp - Irish Moss (Boil 10 min) (Misc)
